Happy Birthday

I'm celebrating my birthday today. I turn 62 so can draw SS which I will get my first check next month. I'm very blessed to have a wonderful family and friends. I started quilting about 12 years ago and love it. This week is the Mid Valley Quilt Guild Quilt Show starting tomorrow Thursday thru Saturday. I have 2 art quilts and 1 wall hanging quilt. I will be a hostess/white glove quilter on Thurs and Fri from 9-12. It should be a lot of fun. More pictures and news on the Quilt Show later. We are going to Red Lobster for B-Day dinner with Paige, Lee and Mike. I will post a picture of my 2nd birthday.

Happy Spring/April

I love April because it is my birthday month and Spring has finally arrived. I finished 2 projects this past few months. I started a quilt at the retreat on the coast in Jan and finished it this week. I placed it on the quilt machine yesterday and plan to get it done by the end of April. I don't believe in having UFO's. I took a 2 day class called Zinnia with Melinda Bula at Sisters in 2011. I finished the Zinnia in August but finally did the thread play in March 2013. I wanted to get it done to show her this year at Sisters. I'm taking her 2 day class in July called Hibiscus. I was able to show her my Coneflower at Houston in 2011 but was unable to get in her class. She is a wonderful teacher. My Zinnia turned out great. I used Sulky Rayon thread which makes the Zinnia POP. Here are a few pictures of my Zinnia.

MVQG Guest Speaker Nancy Brown

Last week, was our guild meeting on Wed and our guest speaker was Nancy Brown. I volunteered to be a host for your guild. Nancy loves animals so didn't mind staying at our house that has a golden retriever, Maddie, a cat, Sassy and husband, Wayne. I want to post Nancy's website which is www.nancybrownquilts.com. Happy National Quilting Day

Happy Happy Quilting Day. I'm heading up to Portland with Paige to attend Trends at EE Schencks today and tomorrow. We are staying at Oxford Suites near Jantzen Beach. This is the Spring trade show for them. It will be a great way to spend Quilt Day. We have been on Friday but not on the weekend. Hope we can win some door prizes. Happy Quilting!!!

I completed my 2nd customer quilt last month for my friend, Paige. She made a queen size quilt for her friend, Phil. It had alot of pictures on it of friends that they both knew and names of the friends. This was a custom quilt due to stop annd starts plus using different patterns on it. It took about 2 weeks to do it and I used several motiffs in it. I love the design Playful which I used alot on the quilt. I will post some pictures of the quilt. It great to have my photography stand to take a picture of it. Paige did her own binding and will give it to her next week.

Maui Vacation

Last month, we went to Maui, Hawaii from Febr 11-20. We have been to Maui many times and it became our favorite island in Hawaii. We stayed at Kaanapali Beach Hotel which is right on the beach beside the Sheraton/Black Rock. It was nice to enjoy paradise for 9 nights. I will post a few pictures of our trip. I posted more about the trip on my other blog. I worked on Paige's quilt before I left for Maui. She is my 2nd customer who had a queen size quilt made for her friend, Phil. It had alot of pictures on it which made it more of a custom quilt. More on my next posting about it. Maui Pictures
