Shortcake

The picture on my blog is a quilt that I started at Winter retreat in Newport this past Jan. It is called Shortcake by Cluck Cluck Sew patterns. I finished it in April and quilted it in May. I used a E2E design from Anne Bright called Denali which turned out great. Here are a few pictures that were taken at Detroit Lake in May.

International Quilt Market Spring 2013 Portland

This a summary of attending Quilt Market with my friends Paige and Cindy. It was wonderful experience to be able to attend another Quilt Market. The last time it was in Portland was 5 years ago and I went with Paige. This time was more special because I have my own quilting business. The Quilting World is amazing. I can't wait until it come back to Portland. Next year, Quilts Inc is going to have a new show here called Quilt Sew Knit. It is exciting news to have a show in Portland. Here are a few pictures of Quilt Market:

Windfall

I was able to finish the binding and take pictures of it at Detroit Lake. I made my quilt shorter by 1 row. The quilting design was called Flamingo Sunset by Anne Bright designs.

Karla Alexander Class at Greenbaum's on April 20

Paige and I took a class with Karla last month. It was a class using her rulers and picked her pattern called Windfall. It was a fun class of 15 quilters doing different patterns using different rulers. I can wait to start another project with a different ruler. I finished the quilt(pieced and quilted) this past week. I will get the binding on it this week so I can work on it on our camping trip next weekend. Here are a few pictures of the quilt.

Mid Valley Quilt Show in April

Last month was our biannual Quilt Show for our guild. It was held on April 25-27 at the Polk County Fair grounds. There were about 200 quilts fro traditional to art quilts. I entered 2 art quilts to be juried and 1 wall hanging(non juried). I volunteered as a hostess on Thurs and Fri from 9-12. Thurs, I folded and stuffed programs with a list of winners and the treasure hunt. Friday, I was able to walk around the quilts to answer questions and show the backs of the quilts. It was great to see my friends come out to the Show. I didn't win anything but was glad I entered 3 quilts. Here is a few pictures of the Show. I posted more pictures on my other blog called Quilting Sew Much Fun.

Happy Spring/April

I love April because it is my birthday month and Spring has finally arrived. I finished 2 projects this past few months. I started a quilt at the retreat on the coast in Jan and finished it this week. I placed it on the quilt machine yesterday and plan to get it done by the end of April. I don't believe in having UFO's. I took a 2 day class called Zinnia with Melinda Bula at Sisters in 2011. I finished the Zinnia in August but finally did the thread play in March 2013. I wanted to get it done to show her this year at Sisters. I'm taking her 2 day class in July called Hibiscus. I was able to show her my Coneflower at Houston in 2011 but was unable to get in her class. She is a wonderful teacher. My Zinnia turned out great. I used Sulky Rayon thread which makes the Zinnia POP. Here are a few pictures of my Zinnia.
