Paige's King Size Quilt

I finished my 1st King size quilt for my friend, Paige. She made it as a wedding quilt for her daughter and son-in-law. It was a challenge to do that big of a quilt, piecing of the quilt and material. I had looked thru Anne Bright designs and found 2 that I liked. One of them was Alex which I liked and showed it to Paige. She loved it. I used Superior thread King Tut Sandstorm. The quilt turned out beautiful with this design on it. I posted a few pictures of the quilt. I wanted to take pictures outside but the quilt was to heavy.

Last week I finished Paige's Cowboy Quilt which she giving to her husband, Lee. I used an Open Meander with Superior Thread King Tut Sandstorm. It turned out great with her pattern called Rail Fence by Karla Alexander. Here are a few pictures of the quilt.

College friend from Texas

It is hard to believe that this is the first weekend in August. Last weekend, I had my college girlfriend come for a 3 day visit. She went to Angelo State University with me from 1972-1974. Her name is Jan and her husband, Darrell and son Travis are from Houston. This was the first time for them to visit Oregon and Washington. They were here a week and used Portland as the home base. They came to our house on Fri-Sun. I have stayed with them when I went to Houston after the Quilt Show in 2008 and 2011. This was the first time to meet Wayne. We had a great time showing them the coast last Sat. We drove over to Lincoln City, Depoe Bay and Newport. It was a perfect day with sunny skies and temp in the 60's. Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show

On Saturday, July 13,2013 was the 38th Quilt Show. It is the largest outdoor quilt show in the USA. I went very early to get a parking space near the Stitching Post. I did get a few early pictures of hanging the quilts and then my battery went dead. There are so many quilts hanging all over town it is impossible to see them all. Here are a few pictures:

Sisters Quilt Week

Last week, my husband and I went over to the Sisters/Bend area for quilt week in Sisters. We stayed at Tumalo State Park between Sisters and Bend. I attend a 2 day Hibiscus class with Melinda Bula on Monday and Tuesday. It was a lot of fun. Melinda is an excellent teacher. I took a 2 day class with her at Sisters 2 years ago and loved it.
